Use Tugboat to Push Your Team into CI

At Lullabot we work on some pretty high profile websites with some very large teams.  Over the years we've honed our development and deployment processes to help keep the codebase clean and keep the features rolling out while keeping the bugs out of the code and making sure the stakeholders are happy.

Adding processes and testing often means reducing velocity, so built a tool that not only helps us prevent the velocity drain, but actually speeds up our development process.

Continuous Integration has become a big buzzword in our industry lately, but what is it really and what can it do for you?  The idea of merging your local work into a shared, mainline codebase multiple times a day sounds terrifying.  Over the years, Lullabot has created a system that removes the scary part of CI and replaces it with confidence and speed.  We call it, Tugboat.

In this session I'll talk about how Tugboat has drastically improved our throughput and quality of code (yes, at the same time!), what it is actually doing, how it is has instilled confidence in our clients, and the tricks to getting your team on board with a CI system like Tugboat.

You don't need Drupal specific knowledge for this session.  In fact, you don't even need to be a developer.  I may reference Drupal projects and examples, but project managers, team leads, and really any stakeholder looking to improve the processes in their software team will be able to take something useful from this session.
